Geographical location
The small rural residential community with agriculture and viticulture is located in a valley basin at the foot of the wooded "Hemm" and is surrounded on the sides by vineyards ( Rheinhessische Schweiz ).

history
Lonsheim is first mentioned in the 8th century in donations to the Lorsch and Fulda monasteries . It was in Wormsgau and was previously written in Laonisheim (first mentioned in 775), Lonesheim (857) and Lohengesheim (1234), the latter possibly referring to the place Langenlonsheim in the Bad Kreuznach district. Lonsheim belonged to the domain of the wild counts . In the 12th century Werner II von Bolanden (1128) had goods in the district. When the Wildgraves were divided in 1283, Lonsheim came under the line of the Wildgraves of Kyrburg . From them, a family resident in Lonsheim, the Knights of Lonsheim, took the manorial power of half the place and the Lonsheim court as a fief and built a castle in the place. The place was wildgräflich- kyrburgisch until 1398 the Bock Lonsheim and then other families (about Albig and Heppenheim) to feud was given in 1679 to the Palatinate came.

Sports
TV Lonsheim eV was founded in 1888.
