The coat of arms of the Verbandsgemeinde was approved by order of May 2, 1986. According to the expert opinion of the Landesarchiv Speyer , the coat of arms shows a growing, red-crowned and red-armored lion inside a black shield board in a shield divided at an angle to the left, and a green grapevine with a leaf in silver at the bottom left .

The coat of arms thus connects the past and present of the community of Alzey-Land formed by the administrative reform. The number of communities is represented by the 24 Berkel of grapes . At the same time, the grapes emphasize the special importance of viticulture for the region. The lion indicates that 17 municipalities of the Verbandsgemeinde belonged to the Electoral Palatinate before the French Revolution .
