The Petersberghalle is a multi-purpose hall in Gau-Odernheim . It was inaugurated in 1990 and is named after the hilltop of the same name at whose foot it lies. The hall can be used for sporting events, but also for celebrations and exhibitions.

The enclosed space is 19,937.36 m². The usable area is 2,595.62 m², of which 1,659.41 m² are suitable for sporting use. The multi-purpose area is 936.21 m².

The large sports hall can be divided into two smaller halls by means of a curtain. It has a stage for entertainment events. For sporting events with an audience, one wall of the hall can be extended as a seating stand and then offers space for 400 spectators. Opposite are rooms with "garage doors" that accommodate sports equipment. The changing rooms for sports teams and referees are located above these rooms. With full seating for an event on the stage, 910 people fit into the hall.

The existing common room can also be divided. A kitchen belongs to him.

The hall is mainly used by the Realschule am Alten Schloss directly opposite (formerly: elementary and secondary school) as well as by the local associations.

The TSV Gau-Odernheim bears since 1990 once a year, the national indoor soccer tournament in the Under-19 juniors from where among others the juniors teams of 1. FSV Mainz 05 , 1. FC Kaiserslautern , Arminia Bielefeld , Hansa Rostock , Eintracht Frankfurt , VfL Bochum , Karlsruher SC , Hertha BSC , 1. FC Cologne and the hosts take part. In addition, many well-known players took part in this tournament, such as B. Robert Enke , Timo Hildebrand and Dimo Wache .

In August 2011, a solar system was installed on the roof which should produce 120,000 kilowatts per year.

On February 17, 2016, the CDU Rhineland-Palatinate used the hall for an election event for the state elections . As the hall is the largest in the Alzey constituency and was drawn by lottery as the guest speaker, Chancellor Angela Merkel , and the top candidate Julia Klöckner supported Ulla Vollmer, who is running in the constituency . The event was followed by an audience of 1,400.

There are two large parking spaces in front of the hall. In front of the entrance area there is a large cobblestone mosaic. Behind the hall there is an open-air stage on which events can also take place.
