Ernst Walter Görisch (born June 8, 1949 in Offstein ) is a graduate in administration and a German politician ( SPD ). From 2004 to 2019 he was the district administrator for the Alzey-Worms district . He is married, has two children and lives in Gau-Odernheim .

Professional background

After his apprenticeship in the administration service, the training for the higher service, he studied at the administration and business academy in Mainz and obtained the administration diploma. In 1971 he was appointed district inspector in the Alzey-Worms district office. In 1982 he took over the management of the social department of the Alzey-Worms district administration.

Political career

From 1984 to 2004 Görisch was full-time mayor of the Alzey-Land community . From 1992 to 2004 he held the chairmanship of the SPD district parliamentary group before he was elected to the district administrator of the district of Alzey-Worms with 51.7 percent of the vote on June 27, 2004. He took office on November 1, 2004. He was confirmed in office on March 11, 2012 and prevailed against three competitors with 57.8 percent of the votes in the first ballot. He won an absolute majority in all towns and municipalities in the district. His term of office as district administrator ended on December 31, 2019.

In addition, he was chairman of the local and municipal Federal Rhineland-Palatinate as well as Vice President of the German Association of Towns and Municipalities . Since 2004 he has been chairman of the Rheinhessen-Nahe planning association and since 2009 a member of the executive board of the Rhineland-Palatinate district council.

On September 12, 2017, Görisch was elected First Deputy Chairman of the Rhineland-Palatinate District Assembly.

Honorary positions

Görisch is voluntarily involved in various social and charitable associations, including as chairman of the Alzey district association of the German Red Cross.
