Sulzheim is a municipality in the Alzey-Worms district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Wörrstadt .

Sulzheim is located in the largest wine-growing region in Germany and in the middle of the Rheinhessen region .

The highest point in the community is the Schildberg at 209.8  m above sea level. NHN . The Sulzheimer Bach rises north and east of the community.

The immediate neighboring communities are Wörrstadt , Armsheim , Wallertheim and Vendersheim .

Sulzheim was first mentioned in a document in 766 AD and celebrated its 1250th anniversary in 2016.

Partnership relationships have existed with the municipalities of the former constituency of the canton of Sainte-Suzanne in France since 1967. They are based on an initiative by Adam Becker from Sulzheim and Victor Julien , conseiller général and mayor of Thorigné-en-Charnie , both honorary citizens of Sulzheim. A place in Sulzheim bears the name of Victor Julien ; a street in Blandouet bears the name of Adam Becker . The capital of the canton of Sainte-Suzanne has a square de Sulzheim , and Vaiges a rue de Sulzheim . In Sulzheim there is also a Ste-Suzanner-Strasse and a Ste-Suzanner-Platz.

The catholic baroque church Philippus und Jakobus , built in 1715, is worth seeing . On the north-east of the town lying Ostrzeszów is since 2013, the lookout tower Ostrzeszów tower whose color scheme was carried out by the color philosopher Friedrich Ernst von Garnier.

Peter Franz Wolf is an honorary citizen of the local community Sulzheim, holder of the badge of honor of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and holder of the medal of merit of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate.

Karl-Heinz Kayser is the bearer of the Rhineland-Palatinate badge of honor and created the Sulzheim local history in 2006.

Liebgard Baumgärtner is the only woman in Sulzheim who received the Rhineland-Palatinate badge of honor for her tireless commitment to the community.

On September 29, 2007, at the age of 23 , Stefanie Ohl was elected Rhine-Hessian Wine Queen for the 2007-2008 electoral period in the Electoral Palace in Mainz .

On February 26, 2010, Werner Mergel received the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany from Interior Minister Karl Peter Bruch in Mainz. For many decades he was head of the Catholic Public Library, chairman of the parish council, secretary of the parish administration council and dean's spokesman. He was on the board of the gymnastics club and chaired it for more than 14 years. He was a member of the local council for 25 years and since 1967 he has been the organizer and interpreter for the Franco-German partnership with Ste Suzanne.

At the beginning of June 2011, Elisabeth and Volker Söllner from Sulzheim received the environmental award of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate from Environment Minister Ulrike Höfken for their long-term work in the field of nature conservation and environmental education.
