Thorigné-en-Charnie is a French municipality with 195 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Mayenne in the region Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the arrondissement of Mayenne and the canton of Meslay-du-Maine (until 2015: canton of Sainte-Suzanne ).
geography
The community is located around 20 kilometers west of Le Mans on the border with the neighboring Sarthe department . Neighboring municipalities are Saint-Jean-sur-Erve in the north, Saint-Denis-d'Orques (Département Sarthe) in the northeast, Bannes in the south, Saulges in the southwest and Saint-Pierre-sur-Erve in the west.
The municipality is drained by a few small streams, mainly to the river Erve , which runs in a deep gorge on the western municipal boundary and has formed caves that are worth seeing. A few rivers also head south to the Treulon River .

In the far north, Thorigné-en-Charnie is crossed by the A81 motorway and has a service station here.

Thorigné-en-Charnie has had a share in the partnership between the former canton of Sainte-Suzanne and Sulzheim in Rheinhessen , Germany , since 1967 .
