Neau is a French municipality with 774 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Mayenne in the region Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Mayenne and the Coëvrons municipality .
geography
The municipality of Neau is located about 28 kilometers northeast of Laval and 50 kilometers west-northwest of Le Mans on the upper reaches of the Jouanne River . The flat, partly swampy and forestless area around Neau is characterized by an alternation of arable land and pastureland. A few quarries and partially flooded remaining holes in the municipality of Neau are striking. Neighboring municipalities to Neau are:
- Mézangers in the northeast,
- Évron in the east,
- Saint-Christophe-du-Luat in the south,
- Brée to the west as well
- Deux-Évailles in the northwest.

Attractions
Saint-Vigor church
Today's church is based on a previous building from the 8th and 9th centuries, which was discovered during archaeological excavations of a necropolis in the choir in 1988/1989. The excavations have uncovered the remains of the apse. In 989 the church belonged to the monks of Évron Abbey. The church building was destroyed by the Normans. A new Romanesque church was built on the same site in the 12th century, dedicated to Saint Vigorus (Saint Vigor), a 6th century Bishop of Bayeux . The church is protected as a monument historique .

Neau is on the main road D 32 from Laval to Évron . In the municipality of Vaiges , 15 kilometers south, there is a connection to the A 81 autoroute from Rennes to Le Mans .
