Montsûrs

Montsûrs is a French commune with 3,227 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in Mayenne in the region Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the arrondissement of Mayenne and to the cantons of Évron and Meslay-du-Maine .

It was created as Commune nouvelle of the same name with effect from January 1, 2019 through the amalgamation of the former Commune nouvelle Montsûrs-Saint-Céneré with the previous municipalities of Montourtier , Deux-Évailles and Saint-Ouën-des-Vallons , which have the status in the new municipality have a commune déléguée . The already integrated in Montsûrs-Saint-Céneré communities Montsûrs and Saint-Céneré retain their status in the new community. The administrative headquarters are located in Montsûrs.

The municipality is located around 20 kilometers northeast of Laval . The municipality is crossed by the Jouanne River. Its tributaries Deux-Évailles and Jarriais also flow here . Neighboring municipalities are Belgeard in the north, Jublains in the northeast, Mézangers and Neau in the east, Brée and Évron in the southeast, La Chapelle-Rainsouin in the south, Argentré and La Chapelle-Anthenaise in the southwest, Châlons-du-Maine and Gesnes in the west and La Bazouge -des-Alleux and Commer in the north-west.
