Couptrain is a French municipality with 131 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Mayenne in the region Pays de la Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Mayenne and the canton of Villaines-la-Juhel (until 2015: canton of Couptrain ).

geography

Couptrain is located about 35 kilometers northeast of Mayenne . The Mayenne River limits the municipality to the north. The parish is part of the Normandy-Maine Regional Nature Park . Couptrain is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Neuilly-le-Vendin in the north and west, Saint-Calais-du-Désert in the north and east and Saint-Aignan-de-Couptrain in the south.

The former Routes nationales 176 (today's D176), which here was identical to Route nationale 807 , runs through the municipality .
