Alexain is a French municipality with 601 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Mayenne in the region Pays de la Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Mayenne and the canton of Mayenne (until 2015: canton of Mayenne-Ouest ). The inhabitants are called Alexinois .
geography
Alexain is located about 16 kilometers north of Laval town center on the Mayenne , which borders the municipality to the east. Alexain is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Placé in the north and north-west, Contest in the north and north-east, Martigné-sur-Mayenne in the east and south-east, Saint-Germain-d'Anxure in the south and La Bigottière in the west and south-west.
