Large moor and floodplain near Wistedt is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipalities of Tostedt , Wistedt , Dohren and Heidenau in the Tostedt municipality in the Harburg district .

General

The nature reserve with the sign NSG LÜ 032 is around 211 hectares. An approximately 157 hectare large part of the nature reserve was designated on September 16, 1976 as the nature reserve "Großes Moor bei Wistedt". This area was almost congruent with the FFH area of the same name and was completely part of the EU bird sanctuary "Moore bei Sittensen". For Apr. 1, 2018 entered a new conservation regulation in force includes the further addition to the existing area surfaces, in addition to those that are directly adjacent to the existing reserve is also another area in the floodplain lowlands . description

The nature reserve, which consists of two parts, is located west of Tostedt. It places a raised bog area and areas in the floodplain under protection. The bog has been severely cooled by manual peat digging. Widespread falter marsh and swamp forests , are embedded in the open areas. The moor forests also serve as a buffer against the agricultural areas surrounding the nature reserve . Only a few areas have been cultivated as grassland in the area of the Great Moor . The bog is Entkusselungs measures and rewetting rehabilitated. The area is drained to the north to the floodplain and south to the east .

Wet grasslands and near-natural forests join the floodplain . The part of the nature reserve located in the floodplain is characterized by wet meadows, broken and mixed forests . Parts of the grassland areas in the nature reserve are fallow . An abandoned sand pit with a small body of water is included in the nature reserve , which is located in the floodplain.

The nature reserve borders in the south on the state road 142 between Wistedt and Sittensen .

Flora and fauna

The Great Moor hosts various typical wetland amphibians , reptiles such as adders and smooth snake and invertebrate animal species , including the butterfly species Large Heath and various dragonflies as Nordic white-faced darter , white-faced darter , bog hawker , moon Azurjungfer , spear Azurjungfer and as a special feature the endangered Northern Emerald .

The Great Moor is the habitat and breeding area of the crane . Depending on the type of biotope, various other bird species are native to the nature reserve. In bogs and swamps with reed beds , tall herbaceous meadows and swamp bushes live u. a. Curlew , snipe , nightjar , Common Teal , Gadwall , Common Pochard , little grebe , black-headed gull , Shoveler , marsh harrier , short-eared owl , great gray shrike and Woodlark . Open and semi-open grassland areas are, among other things , the habitat of lapwing , corncrake , Montagu's harrier , red-backed shrimp , brown and stonechat and common redstart . Forests and forest edge areas are the habitat of honey buzzard , tree falcon , black woodpecker , oriole , goat milker and woodlark.

Settle in the Great Moor and a. Round-leaved Sundew and White Schnabelried . Sometimes you can find bog heather with rosemary heather and common cranberries . An occurrence of the swamp porst could be proven as a special feature . Parts of the moor are occupied by pipe grass and gale bushes .

In the area of the abandoned sand pit dry is sandy heath with heather , sand lean lawns to find and open sandy areas. Humid rush meadows settle around the small body of water . In the area, oak forests grow on sandy sites.
