The Laßbrook is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipality of Wulfsen in the combined municipality of Salzhausen in the Harburg district .
geography
The nature reserve with the sign NSG LÜ 127 is 16 hectares and is located west of Bahlburg, a district of Winsen (Luhe) , on the edge of the Aubach lowland. It is almost entirely part of the FFH area "Luhe and lower Neetze water system".
Protection purpose
It is characterized by a near-natural oak-hornbeam forest on acidic soil and a small-scale differentiated composition of tree species (oak, hornbeam, beech, alder, birch) with a well-developed layer of bushes and herbs . The alder, ash, alluvial forests and spring forests are also characteristic . A relatively large number of old trees and deadwood can be found in the forest.
The nature reserve offers an important habitat for numerous animal species such as birds, mammals (especially bats) and reptiles.
The area has been a nature reserve since July 16, 1987. A new designation is to take place in 2020, as the previous NSG regulation does not formally meet the requirements of the Habitats Directive and must be replaced by a new EU-compliant regulation. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Harburg.
