history

At Bahlburg there were three Neolithic large stone graves that were destroyed in the 19th century.

Bahlburg was built on the historic Postweg between Lüneburg and Harburg , which crossed the Luhe here, and was originally an old farming village. A tributary of the Luhe, the Garlstorfer Aubach, also crosses the village.

The village was first mentioned on February 26, 1312. During the Thirty Years' War , the official mill was burned down by Danish troops on January 22nd, 1627 and the whole village on June 21st.

In Bahlburg there was a fortification castle that served as protection from the Wends . It was probably built in the 8th or 9th century. The exact location of the castle is unknown. It took several centuries for the name Bahlburg to develop. Previous names were Padelenborgh, Padelingheborch, Badelenborg, Padelborch, Palborch, Baalburg, Bahlburgk and Bahleborg.

The Wittenberge – Buchholz railway , which was built in the Lüneburg – Buchholz section from 1872 to 1874, ran through Bahlburg . In 1912 a stop was set up in Bahlburg. Passenger traffic was stopped in 1981 and the last tracks were removed in 2000.

With the regional reform in Lower Saxony , Bahlburg was incorporated into Winsen on July 1, 1972.
