Luhdorf is a district of Winsen (Luhe) in the Harburg district in Lower Saxony . The place has 2294 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2014).

history

Luhdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1158. The old town center is located directly on the Luhe .

Until 1972 Luhdorf was an independent municipality. Together with other surrounding villages, the place was incorporated into Winsen as a result of the municipal reform.

In 1986 the so-called Münzschatz von Luhdorf was discovered while digging a cable trench on a farm . This consists of 159 silver coins from the Hanseatic region , which were minted between 1365 and 1379.

Luhdorf fire station

There is a primary school and a kindergarten in Luhdorf. The primary school is a branch of the Roydorfer School on Ilmer Barg.

The Luhdorf Voluntary Fire Brigade was founded on April 1st, 1902. The fire station was opened in 1969 and is located on Winsener Landstrasse. The fire brigade is responsible, among other things, for the Winsen-Ost motorway section to Handorf. A youth fire brigade was founded in 2002 for the 100th anniversary .

The sports club MTV Luhdorf / Roydorf was founded in 1910 and operates a sports facility in Luhdorf. Sports offered are for example football , badminton , table tennis , gymnastics and canoeing . There is also an amateur theater group .

Luhdorf owns a shooting club , the Luhdorf / Roydorf Schützenkameradschaft, which was founded in 1925.

There is a memorial for the victims of both world wars near the fire station , and a cemetery south of Luhdorf . Far to the east is the Rethmoorsee nature reserve , a little south of it, but no longer in the Luhdorf area, the Hohes Holz nature reserve .

In the east there is also the Green Eagle golf course , where the European Open will take place in July 2017 and 2018 .

Landesstraße 234 runs through Luhdorf as Winsener Landstraße. In the north this runs to Roydorf and later to Winsen, in the south towards Garstedt . North of Luhdorf is the federal motorway 39 , which was opened in 1991 (at that time still as A 250 ). At the Winsen-Ost junction to the northeast, this crosses district road 84 (Osttangente), which ends a little further south at district road 78 (Luhdorf– Radbruch ).

The Luhdorf train station is located on the Winsen – Hützel railway line and consists of a platform for the Heide Express and a loading platform .

Business

The Luhdorf industrial park is located on the east bypass. Resident companies are, for example, Takko and DEDON . Even Amazon has been based since 2017 in the industrial area. The area covers approx. 64,000 m² (approx. 9 soccer fields). Amazon Winsen is the first German logistics center to use transport robots. The robots travel at a speed of around 5.5 km / h and weigh around 145 kilograms.
