Roydorf is a district of Winsen (Luhe) in the Harburg district in Lower Saxony . The place has 1259 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2014).

history

Roydorf was first mentioned in 1158. The old town center is located directly on the Luhe . Later the village expanded to Luhdorfer Straße, to the Roydorfer Heide. Some street names, such as Vör de Heid , Haidweg and An'n Haidweg , still point to this today.

Until 1972 Roydorf was an independent municipality - together with other surrounding villages, the place was incorporated into Winsen as a result of the municipal reform.

politics

Beate Westphal has been the village chief since December 2016 .

Infrastructure

There are three schools in Roydorf, the primary and secondary school at Ilmer Barg, the Luhe-Gymnasium Winsen-Roydorf and the Integrated Comprehensive School Winsen-Roydorf, which is located on the site of the former Realschule II.

The school at Ilmer Barg was founded in 1972, the Luhe-Gymnasium in 2004 and the IGS Winsen-Roydorf in 2011. The secondary school existed from 1978 to 2016.

The Roydorf Volunteer Fire Brigade has existed since 1914.

There is a cemetery in Roydorf. A memorial to the victims of the two world wars was erected in the cemetery.

traffic

Landesstraße 234 runs through Roydorf as Luhdorfer Straße. In the north Winsen joins directly, in the south - only separated by the federal highway 39 - Luhdorf . The motorway was opened in 1991 (at that time still as A 250 ). The closest junction is Winsen-Ost. To the east of Roydorf runs the Winsen – Hützel railway line , which today is almost exclusively used by freight trains, as well as the 84 district road (Osttangente), on which the Luhdorf industrial area is located.

Roydorf is in the HVV tariff area . Bus traffic is geared towards the school centers.
