geography

Ilmenau-Luhe-Niederung nature reserve

Laßrönne is located directly on the Elbe . In the south lies the city of Winsen. In the north, the place borders, separated by the Elbe, on Hamburg's Vierlande . The reeds in the bird sanctuary on the Elbe provide a safe nesting place for thousands of breeding pairs. The Ilmenau-Luhe-Niederung nature reserve has existed between Laßrönne, Stöckte and Winsen since December 1, 2014 .

history

Laßrönne was first mentioned in a document in 1352. The Ilmenau used to flow into the Elbe here, the name is therefore interpreted as " Salmon- Rinne", which is also shown in the town's coat of arms. In the Middle Ages Laßrönne consisted of several farms, an estimated 10 to 15, including Vollhöfe, Halbhöfe and Kötner . The classification is based on a size system from that time; Halbhöfe and Kötnerhöfe are smaller farms. The march farmers were always free and not dependent farmers . The feudal system was introduced from the ninth century by the Frankish emperor Charlemagne , but he had little power over this Elbe region. For this reason, the feudal system in northern Germany was never as firmly anchored in society as in southern Germany . The peasants therefore remained free in Laßrönne.

Engraving from 1569, Laßrönne in the middle

An engraving from the year 1569 comes from an agreement between Winsen and the surrounding towns, after a dispute over pasture and arable rights. It is the only known pictorial representation from that time that shows Laßrönne. Laßrönne was destroyed in the Thirty Years War (1618–1648), the place burned down completely, but was later rebuilt. There is a listed building on Seebrückenweg, which is a special example of the half-timbered architecture of that time. The long farm was built around 1700, is located on a terp and has the typical floor plan of a Low German hall house . Another old half-timbered house in Laßrönne was on the Elbe and burned down a few years ago.

At the end of the 18th century, a 1422 acre piece of land between Borstel , Sangenstedt , Tönnhausen and Laßrönne, which previously belonged to the general public, was divided up, whereby Laßrönne received only a small part of 23 acres and immediately leased it for 40 Reichstaler annually .

Laßrönne was part of Winsen during and after the Middle Ages, which according to the sources from time to time led to disputes over land and rights of way and the Winsen city service. The citizens of Winsen, including the Laßrönner, had to pay taxes to the city of Winsen and do labor.

The Ilmenau meandered across the Laßrönner Marsch until a first canal was built at Laßrönne in 1594 to bypass customs at Zollenspieker . Zollenspieker has been a very important place since the Middle Ages, where trade between Hamburg and the area south of the Elbe converged. There, duties were levied on the goods transported . The Elbe ferry at Zollenspieker has been around for over 800 years.

New pumping station

A diked Ilmenau Canal was not built until 1888, before the Ilmenau flowed wildly through this valley. At the same time a pumping station was built in Laßrönne . It pumped the excess groundwater over the Ilmenau into the Elbe in order to avoid groundwater-related flooding (“gentle flood”) caused by smoke water . It was operated with steam until 1946, from then on electrically. In 1998 a new pumping station began to be built, which was put into operation in 2001. With up to 16.5 cubic meters of water per second, this pumping station can produce a far greater pumping capacity than the old one. Among other things , it demonstrated its performance during the Elbe flood in 2002 , which was also known as the “ flood of the century ”. The pumping station is due to the influence of the Alte Au in the Ilmenau Canal. The Ilmenau- storm surge - barrage under the Strait of Laßrönne after Hoopte was built from 1969 to 1975. It seals off the Luhe against storm surges. The direct route from Laßrönne to Stöckte and Winsen leads over the pier. There was an old bascule bridge here until 1964 , which was then replaced by a sliding bridge. This sliding bridge was replaced by a fixed bridge in 1981.

There has been an Elbe dike in Laßrönne for hundreds of years. For a long time, there was a large gap in the dyke where the camps of the technical relief organization and the federal police are located, which was only closed in the 20th century. In the past, residents had to leave their homes by boat during floods because the streets were flooded. You can see from older buildings in Laßrönne that they were built on terps to be safe from flooding . That only changed after the storm surge in 1962, when new dikes were built here. The renewal of the dikes was completed in 1976. The dikes have been increased again in recent years. If you compare the houses in Laßrönne from the 1960s to today, which are now the majority, with the old houses, you can see that the new houses have been built deeper and are no longer on terps.

On July 1, 1972, Laßrönne was incorporated into the district town of Winsen (Luhe).

politics

The mayor of the village has been Maureen McGilvray since December 2016.

Infrastructure

Laßrönne had its own village school until the 20th century and its own post office until a few years ago . The volunteer fire brigade was founded on November 27, 1927 and has also been doing youth work since 1974 and helping u. a. at the annual Easter fire . In the gym you can do many sports or take part in other events, such as B. the annual Faslamsfeier or the theater evening. There are also two children's playgrounds . In August 2015, a car park with 44 parking spaces was opened on the Elbe dike .

traffic

Laßrönne is on Kreisstraße 50, which leads from the L217 through the town along the Elbe to Stöckte . The German Storchenstrasse runs through the village.

The three stops in the village are irregularly connected to the regional transport network by buses of the KVG Stade . However, these are mainly used for the transport of schoolchildren and are therefore only used outside the school holidays from Monday to Friday. In the morning, four buses on line 4404 go to the schools in Winsen, one of which also stops at Winsen train station and the central bus station. Between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., there are several buses from Winsen back to Laßrönne, which always continue to Tönnhausen . Often it is also possible to continue via Oldershausen to Niedermarschacht . In addition, line 4632 runs once a day from Laßrönne to Buchholz and a maximum of twice in the opposite direction, stopping at schools and school centers in Stelle , Jesteburg and Buchholz.

About one kilometer from the town center is the Laßrönne stop , Drager Straße junction . This is approached more regularly by line 4405. The line runs Monday to Friday both during school hours and during the holidays, albeit less often as it serves school traffic between the Elbmarsch and Winsen. The line also stops in one direction at Winsen train station and at the central bus station. In the other direction, the Elbdörfer Drage , Drennhausen , Elbstorf , Stove , Schwinde and Rönne are approached with a final stop in Niedermarschacht. A connection is possible at the stop Rönne, Brücke with the bus line 4400 to Bergedorf , at the stops Niedermarschacht, Ernst-Reinstorf-Schule and Niedermarschacht, elementary school with the line 5405 to Lüneburg .

Starting from Winsen train station, you can take the metronome to Hamburg and Lüneburg or Uelzen .

Laßrönne is in the HVV tariff area .

In 2013, a free leisure bus called “Elb-Shuttle” was used for the first time in the municipalities of the Harburg district, which are located on the Elbe. This drove three times a day on weekends and holidays from May to October. Thanks to a trailer, it was also possible to take bicycles with you. With the Elb-Shuttle Laßrönne was also connected to the train stations in Bergedorf, Winsen, Stelle and Maschen . It will be offered again in 2014 and 2015.

Sports

The MTV Laßrönne from 1919 is based here. The main sport is soccer .
