Maximilian Wachsmuth (born July 14, 1859 in Laßrönne , Kingdom of Hanover , † 1912 or 1938) was a German landscape and genre painter . Before starting his studies, he lived in Bremen.

Wachsmuth studied from October 26, 1883 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich with Nikolaus Gysis and Otto Seitz . After completing his studies, he worked in Munich and Bremen .

Following the example of Franz Defregger and Wilhelm Leibl, he painted sentimental landscape and genre pictures with motifs from the Alpine region.

The year of his death remains completely unclear: 1912 after the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and the Netherlands Institute for Art History or 1938 after the German National Library .
