Otto Seitz (painter)
Otto Seitz (born September 3, 1846 in Munich ; † March 13, 1912 there ) was a German painter.
Life
Seitz was a student of Carl Theodor von Piloty and Hermann Anschütz . As a professor at the Munich Art Academy , he shaped numerous important artists through his teaching, including a. Rudolf Köselitz and Heinrich Kiel . Otto Seitz was buried in the old south cemetery in Munich. (Grave field 7 - row 5 - seat 56) Location .

Many of his paintings depict people, landscapes and flower still lifes. In works with titles such as drinkers and ruffians in a farmer's tavern , old farmer at the table with a beer bottle or street musicians in the backyard , he captured people and situations of everyday life in pictures. Some of his well-known works are small, some in miniature; For example, Faun and Nymph (oil on wood) has the dimensions 9 cm × 8 cm and landscapes (watercolor / pen on wood) has side dimensions of around 2 cm.
