The nature reserve Ohlen Kuhlen is located in the Helmstorf district of the Seevetal municipality in the Harburg district , Lower Saxony .

General

The Ohlen Kuhlen nature reserve has a size of 3.7 hectares. It was placed under nature protection in 1986 by the Lüneburg district government and bears the designation "NSG LÜ 144". The area belongs to the natural region of Lüneburg Heath .

According to the Lüneburg district government, the protection was placed primarily to protect rare plant species and specially adapted animal species. Except for the performance of official or scientific tasks, it is not permitted to enter the nature reserve.

The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Harburg.

In the nature reserve, there are extensively used wet grassland , fallow land with succession stages rich in tall forebears and a floristically significant forest stand due to the conditions in the lake lowlands with their high groundwater level . A stock of orchids is particularly worth mentioning .
