Orchids
Several species of orchids are in the vernacular orchids called and were each as Stendelwurz , stand Wurz or Satyrion referred. From a botanical point of view, these are the genera Dactylorhiza , Orchis and some other, sometimes monotypical, genera.
features
Orchids of the genus Dactylorhiza
- Mostly spotted leaves.
- Foliage leaves distributed on the stem, becoming smaller towards the top.
- Always recognizable by the bracts that accompany the flowers.
- Many species colonize damp locations.
- Tubers resemble a hand.
Orchids of the genus Orchis , Neotinea and Anacamptis
- There are spotted and unspotted leaves, the number of species with unspotted leaves predominating.
- Leaves arranged in a rosette, usually 1–2 sheathed leaves surrounding the stem.
- Most species colonize moderately moist to dry soils.
- Tubers oval to round.
The species of the genus Neotinea were, with the exception of one species, counted to the genus Orchis until 1997 . Numerous species of the genus Anacamptis ( dog sausages ) that formerly belonged to Orchis are also called orchids.
