Helmstorf is a municipality in the Plön district in Schleswig-Holstein . The community consists of the districts Helmstorf, Kühren, Mühlenfeld and Wetterade as well as Aukamp and Wührbrock. In addition, Gut Helmstorf belongs to the community. The estate was designed by Friedrich Christian von Buchwaldt .
Geography and traffic
Helmstorf is about one km south of Lütjenburg. The federal highways Bundesstrasse 202 and Bundesstrasse 430 run nearby . The Kossau runs through the area of the municipality.
history
The Helmstorf estate is mentioned for the first time in 1275, at that time a knight Gottschalk von Helmerickesdorpe resided on a moated castle in the area of the municipality, but nothing remains of the castle today.
The watermill shown in the municipality's coat of arms is mentioned in a document as early as 1314.
As early as 1895 a power station was operated in Helmstorf.
