history
In 1244, Nehmten and the associated village of Godau were first mentioned in a document, in 1351 the Pehmen estate, in 1433 the village of Sepel, which belongs to the Nehmten estate, and in 1649 the village of Bredenbek.
In the Middle Ages, there was a tower hill castle near the present-day estate . To whom the castle belonged is unclear; the village of Nehmten was owned by Christian I in 1460 , who pledged it to Klaus von Rantzau . From 1512 the names of the landowners are known. In the 18th century the property came to the Schreiber von Cronstern family, into which Carl von Scheel-Plessen married in the 19th century , followed by his son Ludwig von Plessen-Cronstern ; Since then, the estate has belonged to the Counts of Plessen , until recently it was inherited by Christoph Freiherr von Fürstenberg .
The castle of the noble estate Nehmten, which is located directly on the Großer Plöner See , was built around 1712 and expanded around 1850; it received a classical facade. From the north portal there is a direct line of sight through the park to Plön Castle . The manor, along with the manor park and various avenues, is protected as a cultural monument.
In 1889 the former ducal Plönsche Kammergut Pehmen, which had belonged to the Office of Plön since 1638, and the village of Bredenbek were merged to form the rural community of Pehmen-Bredenbek.
On October 1, 1928, the municipality Nehmten was formed from the manor district Nehmten and the rural municipality Pehmen-Bredenbek.
