Ludwig Gabriel Magnus (Mogens) Count von Plessen-Cronstern (until 1898: Freiherr von Scheel-Plessen ) (born September 11, 1848 in Lindholm, Gevninge Sogn , Denmark ; † July 18, 1929 in Nehmten ) was a German diplomat.

Life

Ludwig von Plessen-Cronstern came from the originally noble Mecklenburg-Holstein noble family von Plessen ; he was born as the son of the President of Schleswig-Holstein Carl von Scheel-Plessen and Henriette. born of Cronstern. After visiting the Vitzthumschen Gymnasium in Dresden he studied at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University Bonn Law . In 1868 he became a member of the Corps Borussia Bonn .

After graduating, he became a Prussian and German diplomat. From 1888 until he was German consul general in Budapest . From 1890 to 1894 he was the Prussian envoy at the Hessischer Hof in Darmstadt . From 1894 to 1902 he was Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary of the German Empire at the Greek Court in Athens . From 1902 to 1907 he was again the Prussian envoy at the Württemberg court in Stuttgart . Von Plessen-Cronstern was married to Leopoldine Countess Hoyos (1870–1935), the sister-in-law of Herbert von Bismarck . The German diplomat Leopold von Plessen was her son.

He inherited that from his mother Henriette, b. Schreiber von Cronstern, brought in Fideikommiss , which included the goods Nehmten, Marutendorf and Hohenschulen (districts of Achterwehr ).
