coat of arms
Blazon : “Divided by silver and blue in a wave cut. Above is a lying red key with the handle to the left and the beard down; in front of a growing neo-gothic silver crenellated wall a round, neo-Gothic silver crenellated tower. "
Servatius Church
The church was first mentioned in a document in 1197. It is dedicated to Saint Servatius von Tongern , one of the ice saints , who was presumably venerated by the Dutch settlers who settled Count Adolf II von Schauenburg . The oldest part of the church, the tower, dates from the time of Vizelin , the deep Gothic vault was moved into the Romanesque hall church in the 13th century. The furnishings include a winged altar from 1470 with a depiction of the Passion of Christ and a pulpit from 1595. To the north and south of the nave, the grave chapels of the patronage families Rantzau and Reventlow are almost at the same height .
Blomenburg
The Blomenburg , which is named after the Count Otto von Blome, is located on a hill on the outskirts. Otto von Blome on Gut Salzau bought Gut Lammershagen , to which Selent also belonged, in 1829. He had the English-neo-Gothic manor house built in 1842 as a hunting lodge in a 23 hectare English landscape park. The architect was Eduard Knoblauch . In 1870 it was rebuilt so that it was permanently habitable.
From 1927 to 1993, the state of Schleswig-Holstein owned the Blomenburg and ran the Selent youth home here. After the final closure of the home in 1993, the Blomenburg with 67 hectares of land was sold on January 1, 1997 to the Rendsburg businessman Dietmar Hartmann. A technology center was located there from 2006 to 2011.
economy
As a rural central location, the municipality has a wide range of services and a large number of retail businesses.
Technology center
The Blomenburg Climate Protection Technology Center , financed with around 8 million euros by the EU, the district of Plön and the municipality of Selent , was inaugurated in August 2006. The aim of the facility was the establishment and promotion of business start-ups in the fields of biotechnology and information technology, from spring 2008 with a focus on renewable energy and climate protection. In 2010, the Plön district took over the operation of the Blomenburg technology center. After the bankruptcy of the shareholder “Blomenburg Holding”, owner Dietmar Hartmann Rendsburg, in January 2011, and the decision of the Plön district not to finance the technology center in the future, the Blomenburg Venture Park Trägergesellschaft mbH filed for bankruptcy on February 25, 2011.
A lengthy bankruptcy process can be expected due to the complicated ownership structure .
