history

Barsbek was first mentioned in 1281. The place name means Barschbach . The place is probably well over 1000 years old. Individual place and street names can be proven much longer

At the beginning of the 14th century, the lordly castle of Bramhorst was located near the village that was under the rule of the castle. From 1383 the entire village belonged to the Preetz monastery .

On April 29, 1957, a majority of the thatched farms burned down after being set on fire by a fireman. Because of the lack of water, the Raisdorf fire brigade could not help. Due to tradition, Barsbek gives all of its streets only Low German names.
