Kirchbarkau is a municipality in the Plön district in Schleswig-Holstein .
Geography and traffic
Kirchbarkau is located in the Barkauer Land region 17 km south of Kiel and 10 km west of Preetz on the federal highway 404 from Kiel to Bad Segeberg am Bothkamper See . The following bus lines of the transport companies Plön in Verkehrsverbund Region Kiel hold in Kirchbarkau: 410 (Kiel - Bornhöved - Trappenkamp - Bad Segeberg), 416 (Preetz - Kirchbarkau - Preetz), 424 (Kirchbarkau - mail box - Hohenhorst - Boksee ) and 427 ( Löptin - Nettelsee - Kirchbarkau).
The meanwhile closed small railway line from Kiel to Bad Segeberg led through the community.

economy
The municipality also supplies the surrounding area with services (craft businesses, doctor and dental practice). The only restaurant was closed in 2014 and converted into a residential building in 2016. The village shop ("Markttreff") had to close after the change of operator in 2015 and was to be modernized by the municipality in 2016 with EU funding in order to maintain the local retail trade.

In the farmhouse built in 1813, five terracottas from the workshop of Statius von Düren (mid-16th century), which used to be located at the Rantzauschen renaissance castle, are embedded.
