Franz Raml

Franz Raml (* 1964 in Straubing ) is a German organist , harpsichordist , conductor , choir director and lecturer in early music and historical performance practice.

Life and artistic career

After graduating from high school at Anton-Bruckner-Gymnasium Straubing (musical train), Franz Raml attended the music academies in Detmold and Munich . He studied Catholic church music (graduation A-exam ). Among other things, he was a student of Klemens Schnorr in his main artistic subject, “organ” . This was followed by a three-year postgraduate course with Ton Koopman in Amsterdam in the subjects of baroque organ, keel instruments (harpsichord) and historical performance practice. In 1990 he completed his studies with the concert exam "Baroque Organ" at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Franz Raml works as titular organist on the historic Holzhey organ (1793) of the former St. Verena monastery church in Rot an der Rot in Upper Swabia . He gives concerts as an organist and harpsichordist. He also plays fortepiano in chamber music concerts . Raml is the artistic director of the Hassler Consort , the German Mozart Orchestra , the oratorio choir Liederkranz Ravensburg and the Kreutzer Choir Meßkirch .

Teaching activities

Franz Raml regularly gives courses on instrumental and vocal historical performance practice. He is also the artistic director of the Oberschwaben Organ Academy, which focuses on the great instruments of Joseph Gabler , Karl Joseph Riepp and Holzhey. In 2005 he was a guest lecturer in a seminar for historical organ playing at the University of Music and Theater in Munich .

Franz Raml is also a music teacher at the Ochsenhausen grammar school .

Prizes and awards

From 1986 to 1990 he received a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation . In 1998 he was awarded the advancement award of the international Lake Constance conference.

Works

  • Missa alla francese

The Missa alla francese (composed in 2007/2008) is a seven-part choral mass for male schola, organ and solo trombone. New melodies based on chorale are combined with late romantic and modern French harmonies. The trumpet is used as the instrument of the high priest and of the last judgment (tuba mirum) in all registers from extreme height to the extreme depth.
