The official coat of arms of Bermuda has been in effect since October 4, 1910.

description

The coat of arms shows a red, blue-armored lion, facing the viewer, standing in a green shield base, holding a shield. On the blue shield with silver natural waves in the small shield base a representation of the stranded ship Sea Venture .

Under the coat of arms a golden banner with the motto “QUO FATA FERUNT” (“Where fate takes us”).

symbolism

The crew of the Sea Venture entered the island after a shipwreck in 1609; the 150 people were the first Europeans there. The lion symbolizes the United Kingdom , which shows the origin of the newcomers.
