The Bonaire coat of arms was officially introduced on December 11, 1981, when Bonaire was still part of the Netherlands Antilles .

description

The crowned blue heraldic shield shows a yellow tiller behind a white central shield with a compass and a red star. The black compass is supposed to remember the settlers who came across the sea and settled on Bonaire. The red, six-pointed star is a symbol of the six former residential areas of Bonaire: Antriol, Nikiboko, Nort Saliña, Playa and Tera Korá, which now form the capital Kralendijk , and Rincon.
