The Sabas coat of arms was adopted in 1985 by the Sabas Island Council . At that time Saba was part of the Netherlands Antilles . On December 15, 2008, representatives of the Netherlands and the Netherlands Antilles resolved to dissolve the National Association of the Netherlands Antilles with effect from October 10, 2010. Since that day, Saba has been a “ special municipality ” in the Netherlands , as requested by the population .

description

The coat of arms at the head of a shed shearwater (Puffinus lherminieri) shows the volcano Mount Scenery , which characterizes the shape of the island significantly. In the upper part of the shield there is a fish and a sailing ship, and a sweet potato in the lower part . These symbols represent fishing, seafaring, and agriculture. There are three cabbage leaves on each side of the escutcheon. Both the cabbage and the sweet potato are historically important agricultural products on the island. The Latin motto Remis Velisque , which is located below the shield , translates as "With oars and sails". Figuratively speaking, it should have the meaning “full speed ahead”.
