The coat of arms of Honduras

The coat of arms of Honduras was adopted in 1825 and is still valid today. It was slightly modified in 1935 . It is similar to the Guatemalan coat of arms from 1843. The coat of arms shows the triangular coat of arms of the Central American Federation in an oval with a volcano between two golden towers. The towers represent the defense readiness and independence of the country. The triangle symbolizes equality and freedom. Behind it is a sun and a rainbow. Around the oval is the motto Republica de Honduras Libre Soberana e Independiente , i.e. Free, Sovereign, Independent Republic of Honduras . On the oval lie two horns of plenty and a bundle of arrows. The arrows remind of the Indian inhabitants of the country. Under the oval is a landscape with oaks , pines, farm implements and tools for mining - symbols for the natural wealth of the country.
