The Sorbitz is an 11 kilometer long tributary of the Schwarza in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia . It flows through the Thuringian Slate Mountains .

The Sorbitz has two source rivers: the White Sorbitz , its source is in the east in the municipality of Saalfelder Höhe and the Black Sorbitz in the west, which rises near Meura . The Schwarze Sorbitz flows through Rohrbach before it merges with the Weißen Sorbitz at Döschnitz (flowed through by the White Sorbitz). The Sorbitz then flows through a gorge around 300 meters deep before it joins the Schwarza on the right at Sitzendorf .
