Rohrbach is a municipality in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

geography

Rohrbach is located in the Thuringian Forest Nature Park in the valley of the Schwarzen Sorbitz. The community belongs to the administrative community Schwarzatal , which has its administrative seat in the city of Schwarzatal .

geology

Rohrbach is located in the Thuringian Slate Mountains, so the remains of old slate quarries can be found in many places in the area. The quarried slate was mainly used for roofs and pencil production.

There are also some old marble quarries on the mountains between Rohrbach and Döschnitz. Ferrous ore veins were searched for, but the deposits were small and there are therefore only a few short test tunnels that were dug into the mountains at the time.

The municipalities of Döschnitz and Meura as well as the city of Saalfeld / Saale can be reached directly from Rohrbach .

history

Rohrbach was first mentioned in a document in 1370. Probably in the 17th or 18th century there was a major fire that destroyed many buildings. Even today, old remains of foundations are often found during excavations. Until the late 19th century turned Olitätenhandel represents a significant source of income of the village. Rohrbach belonged until 1918 to the supremacy of the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt .

Museums

The Heimatstube is located in the building of the municipal council and exhibits objects from house, forestry and agriculture. The historic Rohrbach pharmacy and the laboratory (in the back building) are also nearby.

Parks

Next to the parish hall is a park where you can play outdoor chess in summer. The facility continues on the other side of the street. There, flower beds and trimmed hedges dominate the landscape. At the end of the village in the direction of Meura there is a children's playground, a soccer field and a mini golf course .

leisure offers

As a holiday resort, the municipality has a wide range of leisure activities. Outdoor chess, mini golf, volleyball and soccer fields, game reserves, archery courses and Segway rental as well as guided hikes are possible.
