Historical monuments

Memorial on the north-western edge of the village

At the edge of the village in the direction of Allendorf, a memorial stone erected in 1965 commemorates an excess of violence by the SS . Both of them died in a physical argument between a Pole and the farmer who was assigned to him. Thereupon the SS ordered the public hanging of eleven Polish prisoners of war from the Buchenwald concentration camp in December 1941 as an "expiatory measure" . As a “deterrent”, all available forced laborers from the area had to be present at the execution.

Economy and Infrastructure

The developed country road that comes from Allendorf ends in Bechstedt . The Schwarzatalbahn stops approximately every hour at the Bechstedt Trippstein stop . The school bus comes twice a day and takes the children to and from school in Königsee. The mobile bakery and butcher offer shopping opportunities.
