The community is located in the Thuringian Slate Mountains / Obere Saale nature park above the Hohenwarte reservoir . The Rundlingsdorf is to the left of the Hohenwartestausees on a plateau of the Southeast Thuringian Slate Mountains at the southern end of the high altitude around Drognitz. The usable areas have the good soil fertility characteristics of the soils of the slate mountains. There is forest on the heights around the plateau, which continues on the slopes of the Saale. The place can be reached via the L 2366 and L 1100.

history

The place was first mentioned on March 16, 1120 as Butine . The place belonged to the electoral office of Ziegenrück until 1815 and after its assignment, decided at the Congress of Vienna , came to the Prussian district of Ziegenrück , to which the place belonged until 1945.

A church building is recorded for the 12th century. The place has three inns for tourist care. The Hohe Leite has always been the most beautiful vantage point. Opposite the Saale dam is the well-known Linkenmühle .
