Saalfelder Höhe is a district of the city of Saalfeld / Saale in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia . From January 1, 1997 until it was incorporated on July 6, 2018, it was an independent municipality. Almost 3,000 people live in the district.

history

Until the formation of the State of Thuringia in 1920, the border between the Principality or Free State of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt ( suzerainty ) and the Duchy of Saxony-Saalfeld or Saxony-Coburg-Saalfeld ran through what is now the municipality . The latter became part of the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen in 1826 and became part of the Free State of Saxony-Meiningen in 1918. Schwarzburg places were Braunsdorf, Burkersdorf, Dittersdorf, Dittrichshütte and Unterwirbach (Schwarzburg.
