Bernsdorf is part of the district of Saalfelder Höhe in the city of Saalfeld / Saale in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .
geography
The district of Saalfelder Höhe lies in the middle between Saalfeld and the ridges of the Thuringian Forest at an altitude between 500 and 700 meters above sea level. Bernsdorf, on the other hand, is located on a hilly high plateau at 645 meters above sea level in the Thuringian Slate Mountains on the county road 136. The area around the village is delimited by forest. South of this corridor , the federal road 281 leads from Gera via Saalfeld to Eisfeld .
history
The place, inhabited by 73 people in 2012, was first mentioned in 1161–1186. The community assumes 1414. In the 16th and 17th centuries, people lived primarily from mining and exploiting slate. There was also a brewery for the place. Agriculture was only operated as a sideline in pasture use, mainly with young cattle, as it is today.
From 1994 to 1996 the once independent municipality belonged to the administrative community of Saalfelder Höhe . On January 1, 1997, the member communities merged to form the single community Saalfelder Höhe . This was incorporated into Saalfeld / Saale on July 6, 2018.
