Köditz is a district of Saalfeld in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

geography

The district of Köditz begins at the foothills of the northern canopy of the Thuringian Forest . South-east of the core city of Saalfeld at the exit of the federal road 85 in the south and the Saalfeld Munich railway line as well as at the confluence of the Saale into the city area, the district is mainly to the left of the Saale. The corridor of the district is docked , but also has land for cultivation. The southern neighboring district is Obernitz . Between the two districts there is a well-known geological outcrop , the planks , which have been designated as a national geotope .

history

Köditz was first mentioned in a document in December 1074.

The Romanesque chapel was first mentioned in 1383.

Köditz was also able to benefit from the industrialization in Saalfeld, which began at the end of the 19th century. The chocolate factory, which still exists today, was opened in 1901.

In 1922, Köditz was incorporated into Saalfeld, but was removed again three years later. The final incorporation into Saalfeld took place on July 1, 1946.
