Schlagetal

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Schlagetal is a district of the district town of Saalfeld / Saale in the district of Saalfeld-Rudolstadt in Thuringia .

location

The district is located in the Thuringian Slate Mountains north of Reichmannsdorf . To the north is the municipality of Meura . It is of course separated from the Schlagetal by a wall-like, towering Meurafelsen .

history

Schlagetal was first mentioned in a document on December 21, 1386. In 1768, glassblowers from Lauscha built the Sophienthal glassworks in the south of the Schlagetal near Reichmannsdorf, which mainly made a living from the manufacture of container glass for the oil trade . For this purpose, the glassmakers used sand extracted from the rock from Töpfersbühl , which creates a forest glass that absorbs UV radiation , so that the essential ingredients of the oils can be kept longer.

On January 1, 2019, Schlagetal came to the city of Saalfeld / Saale as part of the incorporation of Reichmannsdorf.
