Altsaalfeld is a district of Saalfeld in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

The earlier center was certainly an island between the arms of the Saale . The old market of Saalfeld was immediately west of the Bleichanger and was the eastern neighbor of the royal palace .

history

The sale of an Altsaalfelder mill to the Cistercian nunnery in Stadtilm is documented in a purchase letter from Count Günter XXI. proven by Schwarzburg from 1339. The former village of Altsaalfeld was a fishing village . Only with this settlement was the Saale floodplain east of today's old town of Saalfeld and the royal palace further west.
