Beulwitz is a district of Saalfeld in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

geography

The Beulwitz district is located 0.5 km west and 2.1 km north of the center of Saalfeld. Beulwitzer Strasse is Landesstrasse 2363 and leads from the city center to the village center. From the village onwards, the terrain is sloping and has an agricultural face. Sloping areas and hills are mostly forested. The corridor is climatically favored by the hillside location. The flat plateaus are an interesting area for agriculture.

history

The village was first mentioned in a document on March 8, 1240. With and after the place, an aristocratic family called themselves Beulwitz . The widely ramified family had acquired several properties in the area. In 1265/1310 the family line began with Knight Hartmund. He was Count of the Schwarzburg council and castle captain in nearby Bad Blankenburg at Greifenstein Castle .

The armament of the Wehrmacht resulted in the construction of the Prinz-Louis-Ferdinand-Kaserne , which was occupied in 1936. When the war began in 1939, parts of the 2nd light division were stationed there. After 1945 until the withdrawal as a result of the two-plus-four contract of 1990, there was a garrison for the Soviet and Russian 8th Guard Army in Beulwitz .

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent communities of Aue am Berg, Crösten and Wöhlsdorf were incorporated.

  • The LPG Beulwitz cultivated most of the usable space during the GDR.
  • After the fall of the Wall, Agrarproduktion Beulwitz GmbH & Co. KG was founded.
  • There is a youth meeting place for the youth of Saalfeld in the village.
  • There has been a shooting club in the district for 20 years.
  • On April 6, 1994 Beulwitz was incorporated into the city of Saalfeld.
