Knobelsdorf is a hamlet in the town of Saalfeld / Saale in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

Knobelsdorf is located at Kreisstraße 153. The road coming from Reschwitz then reaches an altitude of 483 meters above sea level in Knobelsdorf. It overcomes at least 250 meters in altitude on this route. The hillside on which Knobelsdorf lies is heavily cropped and inclined to the east and interspersed with forest and bushes. To the east there is the Southeast Thuringian Slate Mountains , which are more extensive and gentle.

history

The hamlet was first mentioned in a document on April 30, 1417. The following literature provides information about the hamlet inhabited by 42 people. The original church was built in 1484. After its destruction, the church was rebuilt in 1798. Until 1918, the place was in the Leutenberg area of ​​the sovereignty of the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt .
