description
The coat of arms was designed by Gordon Christopher and features a shield in the center divided into blue and white waves that represent the sea .
From there the rising sun rises against a black sky , a motif that can also be found on the flag of Antigua and Barbuda .
The sugar cane tree on the left and the sugar mill in the middle refer to the country's former main trade. Further crops are represented by the cotton bush on the right and the pineapple surrounded by four red hibiscus flowers as a crest .
The shield is held by two deer in a green meadow. The deer is considered to be the hunting animal of the island of Barbuda.
Below is the banner with the English motto of Antigua and Barbuda:
- "Each Endeavoring, All Achieving"
- ( Everyone tries hard, everyone succeeds. )
This motto was added by former Secretary of Commerce James H. Carrot .
