Whitney Smith
Whitney Smith (born February 26, 1940 in Arlington , Massachusetts - † November 17, 2016 ) was a vexillologist from the United States . The term vexillology ( flag customer) was introduced by him in 1959.
In 1962, Smith founded the Flag Research Center in Winchester , Massachusetts, and also played a leading role in founding the North American Vexillological Association (NAVA) in 1967. Smith wrote 27 books on flags, designed the flag of Guyana, and advised various governments and other organizations.
