Appearance and meaning
The distinctive design comes from Whitney Smith , head of the Flag Research Center in the USA .
- The yellow shape, known as the “golden arrowhead” in Guyana, represents the hoped-for golden future and Guyana's natural resources.
- Green represents the lush forests and agriculture, Guyana's most important industry.
- Black represents the perseverance and perseverance of the population on the way forward.
- Red symbolizes the zeal, the drive and the willingness to make sacrifices in building the nation.
- The white border represents the country's rivers and lakes.
