Coat of arms of St. Lucia

The coat of arms of the Caribbean island state of St. Lucia was designed in 1967 by Sydney Bagshaw, adopted in the same year by the island's autonomous government and officially awarded in 1979 after the head of state, Queen Elizabeth II , gained independence .

Blazon of the state coat of arms : "In Blue a golden cane Cross , topped with a golden three-legged stool, bewinkelt in one and four in a silver, with a red, bespitzten green and golden bebutzten Rose took Rose and two and three of a golden lily . On the golden-blue fluffed helmet , golden on the right and silver on the left, with blue-golden covers, a growing natural forearm, in whose fist a golden, gold-red-lined burning torch in front of two crossed, angled, green bamboo leaves, held by two flying blue- masked amazons in natural Colors with a bamboo leaf in the beak, underlaid with a gold-red banner, in it the state motto THE LAND, THE PEOPLE, THE LIGHT ( THE LAND, THE PEOPLE, THE LIGHT ) in black capital letters "

Declaration of coat of arms: The coat of arms combines symbols of French (lily) and British (rose) rule over the island. The stool stands for the African origin of the population, the blue-masked parrot is the national bird, the bamboo one of the national trees, and the torch, as a beacon, symbolizes the path to progress. The rose is also the island's national flower.
