The official state coat of arms of the Cayman Islands has been in use since May 14, 1958.

description

The coat of arms shows in the blue coat of arms three five-pointed gold-rimmed green stars 2: 1 placed over three silver wavy bars under a red head of a shield with a running gold looking lion .

A crest on the upper edge of the shield shows a golden pineapple carried by a green turtle .

Below the blazon a golden band on which is the motto of the Cayman Islands is: " HE HATH FOUNDED IT UPON THE SEAS" ( Engl. )

symbolism

The stars symbolize the three islands, the blue and white wavy lines represent the sea; the lion is the English lion, an expression of relations with the United Kingdom . The pineapple and the turtle are symbols of the fauna and flora of the islands.

The emblem means: "He founded it on the seas." This is a verse from the Old Testament , Psalm 24.

The coat of arms can also be found on the flag of the Cayman Islands .
