The coat of arms of Wales ( Welsh Bathodyn Brenhinol Cymru , English Royal Badge of Wales ) shows the running, looking, blue-armored and also tongue-tongued red English lion in a square shield in the first and fourth gold fields and the equally armored lions in the other red fields Gold.

The coat of arms is based on the old banner of Owain Glyndŵr , which, however, consists of a rectangle that is divided into four equal quadrants. The Prince of Wales uses a similar coat of arms, which also has a crown in the middle.

The motto Pleidiol Wyf I'm Gwlad means: 'I am loyal to my country' and comes from the refrain of the Welsh national anthem Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau .
