Coat of arms of the British Indian Ocean Territory
The coat of arms of the British Indian Ocean Territory is a blue sign with a sign foot in front of a golden three silver waves over which a green palm tree stands crown floats. The head of the shield shows the British flag. Below in the right upper corner a yellow flamed sun bursting out . On the shield rests a silver ship's crown from which a five-pinned red tower with a high cross window rises. The national flag on the tower is left waving.
Shield holders are erect turtles that stand on a beach between small marine snails and mussels. The right (heraldic: left) ( green turtle , English: Green Turtle) has a green, the other ( hawksbill turtle ) a brown tank. A banner under the sign shows the motto "IN TUTELA NOSTRA LIMURIA". This means: "In our care is Lemuria ".
