The coat of arms of Laos was changed for the last time in 1991 for the time being.

description

The Laotian coat of arms shows the national shrine Pha That Luang .

There is also a dam as a symbol of power generation at the Nam Ngun reservoir , an asphalt road and stylized irrigated fields.

In the lower part you can see part of a cog in rainbow colors. The two inscriptions left and right proclaim in Laotian writing the slogans of the country:

" ສັນ ຕິ ພາບ ເອ ກະ ລາດ ປະ ຊາ ທິ ປະ ໄຕ "
( Peace, independence and democracy )

and right

" ເອ ກະ ພາບ ວັດ ຖະ ນາ ຖາ ວອນ "
( Unity and prosperity )

symbolism

The national shrine That Luang symbolizes the unity of all Laotians . The forest stands for nature, the rice field for agriculture. The cog wheel and the Nam Ngum power station symbolize the emerging industry.

history

It is not known in which year Laos adopted its first coat of arms. The emblem of the national flag served as a model.

The coat of arms was changed in the early 1990s. The previously existing communist symbols, the red star , hammer and sickle , were replaced by the national shrine Pha That Luang.
